Stuart Bartlett

Stuart Bartlett

Biographical Summary

Dr Bartlett carried out his undergraduate studies in Physics at The University of Bath, England. He spent the third year of his degree at the Swiss Federal Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research in Davos and his MPhys dissertation focussed on cellular automata models of dendritic solidification. After carrying out some conservation work in Indonesia, he returned to Davos for a short internship investigating the role of ventilation heat transfer in snowpacks. He then began his PhD at the Institute for Complex Systems Simulation at the University of Southampton in England. His thesis focussed on the thermodynamic properties of pattern-forming, non-equilibrium fluid systems and their relationship to the emergence of life. Having completed his PhD, he returned again to Switzerland, joining the EPFL as a postdoc contributing to the SCCER project concerning the interplay between renewable energy infrastructure and alpine natural hazards.

SCCER-SoE Responsibilities

My work will focus upon WP2: Renewable energy risk management and optimisation. I will also be co-supervising a PhD student working within this WP.
