Tobias Zahner is a graduate of the IDEA League Joint Master’s program in Applied Geophysics at TU Delft, ETH Zurich, and RWTH Aachen. During his MSc project as well as during the following four months as a Junior Researcher at the University of Lausanne he worked stochastic inversion approaches for geophysical data. His PhD focuses on seismo-hydraulic characterization of fractured reservoirs.
Geophysical exploration of the Grimsel Pass borehole and its immediate surroundings. Comprehensive borehole logging and surface-to-borehole seismic experiments will be used to characterize the electrical, elastic, and hydraulic properties of the probed lithologies. The rock physical properties inferred from a conventional interpretation of the observed data will then be analyzed in an advanced poroelastic context with the objective of developing a “template” for constraining the permeability of the fractured reservoirs based on sonic and/or seismic data.
