Karin Treyer

Biographical Summary

Karin has obtained a B.Sc. degree in Environmental Sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). Due to her strong interest in Life Cycle Assessments, she then did a master in Environmental Engineering at ETH. After her studies, Karin has joined the Technology Assessment group at the Laboratory for Energy Systems Analysis at Paul Scherrer Institute as a Life Cycle Analyst. She is the responsible person for the electricity sector in the worldwide leading Life Cycle Inventories (LCI) database “ecoinvent”. With this, she is strongly involved in the further development of the database and in guiding and reviewing the integration of new or updated electricity related datasets. Besides, Karin is supervising students who do their internship or thesis within the TA group. Other LCA projects are for example settled in the field of deep geothermal power in Switzerland and novel types of fuel cells for power generation.


SCCER-SoE Responsibilities

Within the SCCER SoE, she will be involved in the Life Cycle Assessments of the various storage technologies. With this, various impacts on the environment will be determined over the whole life cycle of the technologies in question.
