Richard graduated in 2015 the Master of Science in Engineering, Industrial Technologies specialization, at University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland, HES-SO Master in Lausanne. Since September 2011, he was scientific assistant in the hydraulic energy research team of Prof. Münch at the HES–SO Valais//Wallis. He is working mainly on hydraulic turbomachinery projects using numerical simulations. His main research interests are the hydrodynamics of turbines as well as the control and the regulation of turbines.
In the framework of the SCCER-SoE research project, Sylvain Richard is working in WP3 Innovative technologies on the numerical and experimental investigations of new technologies for small-hydro applications destined to energy production. He is actively involved in the Task 3.2 to develop the electrical part and the regulation a new iso-kinetic turbine for rivers, He is responsible with the set-up of the electrical driving systems as well as with the connection of the systems to the electrical grid.
