Sebastián Leguizamón was born in February 22, 1989. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, in 2012. He then graduated from École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2014, obtaining a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering with a major focus on energy systems. He began his Ph.D. in the Laboratory for Hydraulic Machines at EPFL in 2015, shortly after finishing an internship in Alstom Hydro, France. His main interests include computational fluid dynamics, multiphase modelling, turbulence modelling and hydraulic turbomachines.
He is working within the WP3.2 in the framework of the CTI project titled GPU-SPHEROS. This project aims at extending SPHEROS, a multi-physics FVPM software developed at LMH-EPFL since 2010. Sebastián’s responsabilities involve the improvement of the physical models implemented in the software with the objective of developing accurate simulations of the phenomenon of erosion in Pelton turbines.
